Charlie Javice, the convicted founder of Frank, is reportedly seeking a presidential pardon from President Trump. As the administration contemplates issuing around 250 pardons this summer to mark America's 250th birthday, Javice’s name hasn’t yet appeared on the Justice Department’s clemency request list.
Her case isn't making JPMorgan any friends either. In September last year, Javice was found guilty of fabricating millions in customer accounts to boost her startup's value before selling it for $175 million, a move that landed her over seven years behind bars and facing an appeal.
Adding fuel to the fire is JPMorgan’s own brush with controversy. In early 2021, they closed Trump-linked accounts after the Capitol riot, earning them a lawsuit from the former president for $5 billion, which they deny was politically motivated.
Javice's supporters include Marc Rowan of Apollo, who testified on her behalf at trial and has donated to Republican campaigns. With so many moving parts, one can only wonder what comes next in this bizarre tale of finance, politics, and presidential clemency.
