Donald Trump has announced that Pam Bondi, previously the US Attorney General, is moving on to a private sector role. Her departure comes shortly after Kristi Noem, former Secretary of Homeland Security, left her post.
Bondi was notably involved in the TikTok controversy and efforts to pressure tech companies to block ICE-tracking apps, as well as being at the centre of discussions around the release of Jeffrey Epstein’s files. Trump praised Bondi for overseeing a significant crackdown on crime across the country, with murder rates reaching their lowest since 1900.
He expressed his gratitude towards her and stated that Todd Blanche, who serves as Deputy Attorney General, will now take over as Acting Attorney General. Bondi’s next move in the private sector is yet to be disclosed by Trump, who hinted at an important role for her future career path.
