Trump’s Teleprompter Man: A $100,000 Word on the Street

As AI predictions become more mainstream, are we trading secrets and truths like commodities?

Kalshi is a high-tech prediction market that allows users to ‘forecast the future’, but its offerings look suspiciously like betting. Government insiders have been generating insider trading stories by using their knowledge of upcoming events to place bets and make substantial profits. The classic example was Gannon Ken Van Dyke, who made $410,000 from his knowledge on Polymarket while planning the capture of Venezuela’s Nicolas Maduro.

But now, new allegations suggest that even President Trump's teleprompter operator has been engaged in this activity, making $100,000 by predicting specific words and phrases that might appear in Trump’s speeches. This raises serious questions about how many people are gambling on the future based on insider knowledge and whether results are being manipulated.

The White House was so concerned that it issued a memo in March warning employees not to ‘use nonpublic information’ for these contracts, but concerns continue, especially after significant wins involving US government policy. This activity makes one wonder how much truth we can trust when it’s up for sale on the internet.
