During a live war game, Ukrainian drone teams wiped out an entire brigade of US Army tanks and armored vehicles. This semiannual exercise, known as Combined Resolve, offered a stark glimpse into the evolving landscape of modern drone warfare.
The drill, held in Germany from April to May, allowed US troops to witness firsthand how drones can swiftly and effectively target armored units. The rapid destruction led to frequent 'respawns' for the US forces, but this repeated exposure helped them develop strategies to counter such threats.
Participants included soldiers from the 3rd Armored Brigade Combat Team of the 1st Cavalry Division, who typically operate M1A2 tanks and Bradley vehicles. The exercise highlighted the need for constant vigilance, as there are no longer safe moments in battlefield scenarios.
The lessons learned extend beyond US shores; Ukrainian drone teams also participated in a NATO exercise in Sweden, further emphasizing the global impact of these technological advancements. As warfare evolves, so too must our preparedness and adaptability.
