Databricks has bolstered its security offerings by acquiring two startups, Antimatter and SiftD.ai. The aim is to develop Lakewatch, an AI-driven tool that integrates classic SIEM tasks with advanced analytics.
Antimatter, founded by security researcher Andrew Krioukov, focuses on secure data deployment, while SiftD.ai offers interactive notebooks for collaborative threat hunting. Both acquisitions hint at Databricks' ongoing quest to stay ahead in the AI race.
Databricks declined specifics on employee numbers but confirmed that the startups' staff now join the company. Krioukov is leading the Lakewatch team, bringing months of experience from his time with Databricks.
The acquisitions continue a trend of tech giants snapping up smaller players to stay competitive in emerging technologies. For now, the focus remains on integrating these new tools into Lakewatch and expanding Databricks' market reach.
Meanwhile, TechCrunch is gearing up for Disrupt 2026, offering founders and investors a platform to network and innovate alongside industry leaders.
