Audiobook, e-book, or both? Now, you won’t have to choose. The Scribd-owned reading subscription service Everand wants to make that choice unnecessary by bundling its catalog of over 1.5 million audiobooks and e-books with the social book club app Fable into a single plan.
The new subscription is available to the two apps’ combined readers and provides access to the extensive library, plus nearly 200,000 online book clubs. The company has licensing agreements with all five major U.S. publishing houses and other major distributors. Entry-level plans start at $11.99 per month for one book, while a $28.99 plan offers you the chance to dive into five.
Everand believes this combined experience could attract readers who want a subscription that covers both audiobooks and e-books in one place. Spotify has also entered this market with its own offering of audiobooks and physical books, thanks to its 'page match' feature which syncs your place between formats.
BookTok's influence and the general resurgence of offline activities among Gen Z have fueled this trend, as readers now want to form communities around their content. The app is expanding its subscription tiers worldwide with modifications to how 'unlocks' work, allowing unused credits to roll over for up to six months.
