Dora Palfi and Beatrice Ionascu have launched Imagi, an edtech platform that teaches K-12 students coding, basic computer skills and AI literacy. In a recent funding round, they received $4.5 million from investors including Brighteye Ventures, Day One Capital and artist Will.i.am.

The company has partnered with the vibe-coding tool Lovable to create controlled lessons for teachers, with OpenAI providing free credits for schools to access the platform. The partnership has already seen a teacher build an app translating her curriculum into 15 languages, while another student created a website to promote his lawn-mowing business.

The safe deployment of AI in classrooms is crucial as these tools become more prevalent in job markets. Imagi ensures that every prompt and response generated by the platform are screened for violations before reaching students, and the system trains teachers on how to use AI, coding and computational tools to teach confidently.

Since its launch, Imagi has worked with over 700,000 students across 140 countries. The fresh capital will be used to scale into more K-12 schools, hire staff and build out new product features. A new platform is set to launch next month.
